GOVERNOR-GENERAL ON HONG KONG'S INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT Hong Kong: Isogal, Governor-General of Hongkong,. stated to the Press on Monday, that preparations are being hastened to make Hongkong a rallying point in the Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere. Since 1st April various goods, including rice, flour and coal, are unloaded in Hong kong for reshipment to places in South China, such as Canton, Swatow and Amoy.

HONGKONG TL GRAPH STRVICE Hongkong: A further expansion of the tolograph service to the Philippines Burma, Borneo, Celebes and Bali was announced by communication authorities of the Government Generol here today. Beginning today telegrams will be accepted for North San Fernando, Lingayen, Tegudin, Los Banos and Pango in the Philippines, (?Mookyec) and (?Boodoung) in Burma, Balik Papan in South Borneo, Donogala in Colobes and Singa Raja in Bali.

HONGKONG TRADE Hongkong: Arrangements for the trading of goods between (?Swatow) Amoy and Hainan have been completed, it was announced by the Hongkong Govern- ment General yesterday. The present measures are understood to have been taken with the aim of furthering so... other exchange of goods between Hongkong and Southern China as well as southern regions. According to the arrangements, goods and foodstuffs worth 2,400,000 yen will be exchanged between Hongkong and Swatow for 12 months beginning 1st April. Between Hongkong and Amoy in the four months beginning 1st March, goods and material worth 500,000 yen will be traded. Settlement of accounts will be made through exchange bills. The understanding between Hongkong and Hainan, which took effect on 1st April for one year, will include various goods and material worth 5,500,000 yen.
Settlement of these accounts will be made through military scrip.

10.03 HONGKONG DEVELOPMENT:
Hongkong: Aoki, Minister for Greater East Asiatic Affairs, who is now touring the southern regions, inspected the latest developments in Hongkong on 17th April. He conferred with Governor-General Isogai. In a press interview after his conferences with Isogai, Aoki expressed his conviction that Hongkong will play an important part in the commerce and communication of the Greater East Asia sphere, now that British Imperialism has been wiped out from East Asia. Pointing to the rapid recovery of Hongkong, Aoki observed: "I notice shipbuilding is already in full swing". He said the people of Hongkong must try to increase production in other fields. Aoki also saw the C.-in-C. Japanese Expeditionary Forces in South China while in Canton. He also crossed to Hainan Island where he inspected various iron mines. While in Canton he said whole- hearted cooperation between the peoples of China and Japan will be a tremendous factor in the establishment of a new Greater East Asia.

HONGKONG CENSUS PLAN Hongkong: The Government General of Hongkong plans to take a census of the Japanese occupied zone of Hongkong. It will be begun on 8th May.
